Apple Plugs Password Security Hole

Apple has fixed a security hole that made it easy for someone to seize another person’s Apple account, which controls access to iCloud, iTunes and other Apple services.
The company made the password reset page for Apple ID accountsavailable again, not long after the discovery of the security hole forced it to take the site down. The Verge reported on Friday that the security hole allowed anybody who knows another user’s account name and date of birth to reset his password, without answering the customary security questions that usually accompany the process.
The Verge, which said it verified the security hole after a tutorial about it was posted online, reported that it involved pasting a special Web address into a browser.
The discovery came just days after Apple introduced a feature called two-step verification to improve the security of Apple ID accounts. The feature requires people to a use conventional password in conjunction with a code they receive on a cellphone in order to initially gain access to their Apple account from a new device.

DUBAI: Pakistan’s former military ruler Pervez Musharraf said on Friday he would definitely return home on Sunday to contest historic elections in May and that he was prepared to risk any danger to his life.

He made the remarks in an interview with AFP in Dubai just hours after a Pakistani court granted himprotective bail in a string of legal cases, paving the way for his return from nearly five years in exile without the risk of immediate arrest.
Musharraf, who seized power in 1999 and left the country after stepping down in 2008, is wanted in Pakistan for conspiracy to murder and illegally arresting judges.
“Two hundred percent! I am travelling back on Sunday to Pakistan,” he told AFP in Dubai, where he has divided his time with London since stepping down as head of state in August 2008.
“I will go by land, air or sea, whatever… even to the peril of my life this is the oath I took for the country,” said the former army chief of staff.
The outgoing government led by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) always insisted that Musharraf would be arrested should be return to the country and last year he delayed a planned homecoming after being threatened with detention.
A parliamentary committee could later Friday agree on a candidate to head up an interim government which will rule during the election campaign.
“There will be no arrest or anything,” Musharraf told AFP. “I decided I will go back whatever the judgment (in court) but the judgment is favourable,” he said

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday granted General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s request for protective bail in various cases pending against him.

The court moreover directed the former president to submit bail money amounting to rupees 100,000.
The 10-day-long protective bail was approved in response to a constitutional petition filed in the SHC by Musharraf’s daughter Ayla Raza on behalf of her father.  The petition requested the court for protective bail so that the former ruler could appear in the trial court to defend himself.
The petition said Musharraf  planned to return to the country but apprehended arrest for his alleged involvement in different cases, including Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Akbar Bugti’ murder and the Lal Masjid operation case in which scores were killed
